Tinubu is Now ECOWAS Chair

President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has emerged as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS).
The emergence was made known at the 63rd ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of States and Governments of ECOWAS in Bissau, the capital of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
“We will take democracy seriously, democracy is very tough but it is the best form of government,†Tinubu said after the past chairman of the regional body handed over to him.

In the opening remark, Nigeria was commended for her ability to sustain peace and strengthen democracy in the West African region by the immediate past Chairman of the regional body and President of the ECOWAS Commission, Umaro Sissoco Embaló.
Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission has also congratulated President Tinubu upon resuming office as the president of Nigeria. The new ECOWAS chair in turn expressed gratitude to President Embaló for his leadership as Chair of the regional body in the last year, noting that the community had recorded notable achievements.
